“Handmade by sailors for landlubbers”

BOMBELLI. imagines a bag made entirely of ropes made by sailors.

An idea born from the meeting with La CORDERIE ROYALE. An obvious collaboration with the guardians and transmitters of this age-old know-how thanks to the sailors, the only experts who can make this project possible.

The CORDERIE ROYALE is a factory created by Louis XIV and Colbert located in Rochefort, from where the frigate La Méduse departed and whose shipwreck scene was immortalized by Géricault in the famous The Raft of the Medusa.

CORDERIE ROYALE agrees to be a partner of the project and works with BOMBELLI. to develop and create a bag in rope and leather. Inspired by the baderne, a flat rope knot used to protect the decks of boats, this piece combines technique with aesthetics, and diverts the use of the sailor's knot in a city or evening bag with a contemporary and sensual look.

The ends of the knots are reinvented as handles, the interlacing of ropes is transformed into a sophisticated pattern, which reveals a patent leather bag bringing light and contrast: the Knaughty is born.

A technical challenge where the unique expertise of sailors meets that of leather goods.
